Busy Day…

Well, so far this morning I’ve been to work for a couple of hours, then jumped on my motorcycle and ran up to Anderson Hearing Clinic to get my hearing tested. After I’d parked my bike, and walked around the building towards the front door, I passed by dog that was tethered to one of those stand up ashtrays. Nice dog… After I got well beyond him, a wasp stung him, and he took off, pulling the ashtray over, and then with him… it terrified him! QOL=Quality of Life

Its now been 5 months since we started active treatment for oropharyngeal carcinoma which included surgery, chemo therapy and radiation therapy. I am ‘back to work’, usually a sign that most things are back to normal, other than the obvious emotional impact that swirls in the wake of any cancer diagnosis. In my case, I am also very disappointed in my current Quality of Life to the point that it is becoming a focus of potential depression. My tongue still doesn’t work the way its supposed to. Cisplatin and tinnitus

One thing that I haven’t mentioned over the past few days that should be noted is the effect of Cisplatin (the chemo therapy drug) on my ears. Tinnitus. Since last Friday (yes, it took two days to manifest itself) I feel like its always the day after a big rock concert. My ears are lightly full of white noise, punctuated by high pitch whines. Physical pressure changes from the weather, wandering from room to room, just a subtle change in altitude up and down a hill can make a difference as to what I hear and experience.
