I don’t have the self-esteem to do nothing

‘Doing nothing’…

Think about what that actually means in the context of your life, and then consider what it means to your life in retirement.

It takes knowing a lot about yourself, and what is important to you to be able to sit and contemplate the world.  Some of us need more than just a good book, a good cup of coffee and good company to feel good about doing nothing.  This isn’t the same as ‘being still‘.  Doing nothing in this context is about just that; doing nothing.  Its about not participating, not interacting, not getting out there and getting into the dance of life.

You really have to be so self-confident, self-aware, and self-fulfilled to do nothing.  And as I said, I just don’t have the self-esteem to do nothing.  I will volunteer, I will take classes, I will find an excuse to spend time with my grandchildren, I will head to a seniors’ centre to play cards if that’s what it takes.  But I will not do nothing.
